Comments: This journal is beautiful.I am 14 and have dreamed of flying for several years.I plan on getting my private licence and instruments in a cessna. Then going to a a large flight school like Embry Riddle and getting my commercial license and flying somthing quite a bit bigger.Visiting your site has only increased my desire to fly. Some day I may even get an ultralight and learn to fly it as well. But as the regulations require that I be atleast 16 before I can fly solo and get my licence,I will have to keep on dreaming for a couple more years.

Comments: GREAT SITE!!!! I am 15 years old and I'm REALY hooked on flying. I am working off flight lessons at my local airport and love every minute of it. I just spent all day today shootin' touch and go's in a Cessna 140. I have a small problem though. Because of my age, I can't get my license for a couple more years. I am hoping to get a job and save up for a used ultralight. I have a freind who owns a Quicksilver MX Sprint and have had a chance to do a couple of "crow hops" and hope to be flying an MX Sprint myself soon. This site has inspired me more toward gettin' a UL and for that I am greatful.

Our school (the Illinois Institute of Technology) just purchased an ultralight a few months ago to convert to run on ethanol fuel (85% ethanol, 15% gasoline). We have been working on it and it seems to run decently with our Rotax. I just took my first lesson last week and it was a blast. Flying ultralights is the purest form of flying (except maybe for hangliders).

To make this more interesting, I want to fly around town, this would freak people out, and maybe soark some intrese to get more ultralights in the air here! Comments: I bought a 1984 MX with the same sail pattern as the one on this web sight. I hope to be flying solo by July. Tracking down the Ultralight on the internet was a 30 day process. I got a good deal, however, there are other costs involved such as tools, helmet, trasciever, extra bolts etc. It's all fun and I guess thats the point. My Wife is not very enthusiastic but my kids are excited about the MX. I've wanted to fly after seeing my first air show at age 6. I've been an ultralight spectator since 1994. This sight pushed me over the edge and encouraged me to realise my dream of powered flight. If your dreaming of flying your own aircraft, act on your dream before your dream fades or passes you by.

Ive been flying since I was 15, very first flight was in a 2 place ultralight, obtained my private pilots license at 17 in cessnas, and was even on the road to becoming a commercial pilot...but, I feel that alot of the romance is missing in the highly structured system involved in such flying. Now, I am dreaming of cruising low and slow, should have my new trike soon!! Thank you for such an inspiring webpage!!!

Comments: Wow, really neat and stirring page. Great photography. I am reminded of an article in National Geographic YEARS ago that I kept for so long - it was all about ultralights. It had amazing photography (of course) all through it. I have always had the dream of flying and doing that with an ultralight. That started when I was just a little tyke playing soccer every saturday morning at the local community college. Just up the hill from our field was a place were ultralight planes took off and landed, and I was more interested in watching them than playing soccer! Well, somebody mentioned it a few days ago and my mind started wheeling. I am out on my own now, make good money, and could certainly have my own. So I started searching the web for info, and came across your page. thanks for the "memories"!

Comments: Amazing-- I too bought, built, and flew a 1983 model Quicksilver MX 1 place, with the EXACT sail color pattern--(I thought I recognized the "recurve bow" main axle from your pics, peculiar to that year model and earlier!)Although my experience with mine was in a different location (MS Delta), the fondness of the memory is the same as yours-- I had the fortune of including my dad in on my activity, culminating with his getting 2 place time, and soloing in the "Skyhawk" (the proper name for that sail pattern, as I recall)-- he has since died, but I'll always cherish that time in my life as the "best of times" with my dad--

Then I saw the PPC of my dreams at the EAA Fly-In in Oshgosh, WI. I put a deposit on one and waited to give birth to it. That happened this winter in Pewaukee, WI., where my Skymaster Excel was built. (flyskymaster.com) It was too windy when I went to pick it up, so had to trailer it back to Las Vegas. Comments: I really enjoyed browsing your site. My first flight experience was in a MXL in Miami FL. I loved it so much that I wanted to buy it on the spot but the guy who had it for sale let me know that I required a pilots license to operate the two seater. $3500.00 later I was a pilot but due to my military commitment I was restationed then ran out of cash to buy the plane. I still dream of flight without doors and perhaps when I return from overseas It'll happen. I pray that whatever situation caused you to leave the sky God will fix. Comments: On November 17th 2001 I crashed my 1983 MXL. I thought the 7 hours of flight training in a two seat Thundererbird in Marana,Az. would be enough for my first solo. My instructor H.L. Cooper (my piloting mentor)told me if I was going to fly , pay attention to my gauges. Out of excitement I made two turns upon climbout. This caused a stall 100' off the ground. Lacking experience, falling to the earth my first instinct,(but worse!) was pulling back on the controls. I was lucky to have a cushioned fall, two 12' Palo Verdes. People and friends call me crazy but it only set me back 900.00 in parts, 1400.00 in Fabric. Where else can you fly your own U.L. for an initial cost of 3000.00 for a used MXL, and 2300.00 in crash parts.

The layout of the UE made the information being presented that much more inspiring. I currently only fly certified aircraft, but am looking for the right Ultralight. (I'm PP/IFR, and the only reason I haven't jumped into Ultralights sooner is that as a PP, I can rent a plane locally and haven't found a similar arrangement for Ultralights) Now that my life has moved into a direction which affords me the ability to persue this dream, I'm going to jump on it while I can. I'm just glad I came across this site which reminded me of what it felt like before flying became volumes of rules/restrictions.
