Meet my Aquilla Trike, "Seventeen Peach"

After two months of waiting on manufacturing in South Africa, shipping, customs, final assembly and flight testing, I was off to take delivery.  I hauled my empty trailer to Florida and then spent eight days dialing-in to monster power, taking advanced training and just generally gazzing out.

My old friend Woody (trike thug and world's best Mitchell Wing pilot) joined me on day four to fly for a few days, help with transport logistics and also wail away at the Flagler Beach biker bar inventory of Coronas and limes.  Man, we amped the fun-meter until we broke the glass dial!

My Aquilla Trike - "Seventeen Peach" My first flight in 17PCH (specifications) was a 30 mile trip down the beach from St. Augustine to Flagler.   When Steve and I landed I was jazzed, gazzed, and this time really over the moon.

I definitely wanted photographs for "show and tell" so Woody got to drive the Peach on this photo-op flight to the beach.  Mike flew the Windlass with me in the back seat shooting one of the best single rolls of film ever to come out of my camera.

One thing is for sure - radios make air to air photography sooo much easier.

5:45 a.m. - 800 miles to go Yours truly, departing Flagler at daybreak, before spending the next 13 hours shaking my head and running at the mouth to Woody over the incredible new flyin' machine that was now all mine.
